Initial interview

For a first acquaintance, the exact recording of your complaints and a thorough examination, I take a full hour. Only in this way is it possible to make a holistic diagnosis according to the rules of Traditional Chinese Medicine and to design a personal treatment plan for you. TCM treatment methods do not have to replace Western conventional medicine, but complement it in a meaningful way. Together we will then discuss and plan the course of your treatment and the time perspective.

TCM treatment methods

I mainly use classical body acupuncture (needle acupuncture), often also in combination with superficial, painless permanent needles - a great alternative especially for the treatment of sensitive persons or children. If an increase in effect is desired, electro-acupuncture (EAP) can be used - here a light stimulation current is applied, similar to a TENS unit. If necessary, ear acupuncture or neural therapy (infiltration of trigger points with local anesthetics), massage techniques such as Tuina or acupressure, cupping treatment or targeted heat application (moxabustion, infrared lamp, grain pillow) can also be considered. As in Western orthodox medicine, TCM also uses effective medicines - in the form of medicinal herb mixtures (phytotherapy). Nutritional counseling according to the recommendations of TCM and taking into account individual life circumstances and habits is often useful to achieve the desired treatment goal.

Surgery / Orthopedics / Sports Medicine

Of course, as a specialist in general surgery with many years of experience in trauma surgery, orthopedics as well as rehabilitation and sports medicine, I am also your competent contact person for complaints of the musculoskeletal system, (sports) injuries and surgeries and, of course, I also take over the follow-up treatment after surgical interventions of any kind (wound, X-ray checks, dressing changes, stitch removal, etc.).

Acute and chronic pain

are the most common reason why patients choose acupuncture and TCM. Pain reduces the quality of life, disturbs sleep, and the permanent use of painkillers is not infrequently associated with undesirable side effects. For acute pain, acupuncture often provides rapid improvement, but for chronic pain, 10 -15 acupuncture treatments or more may be necessary.

Acute and chronic pain
Peripheral polyneuropathy (PNP)

Peripheral polyneuropathies usually develop without an identifiable cause (idiopathic PNP), or they are a consequence of diabetes (diabetic PNP) or chemotherapy (CIPNP). Those affected suffer considerably from pain, restlessness (restless legs), burning sensations, and sensory disturbances in the feet and legs (or even hands), balance is impaired by the sensory disturbances, walking is laborious, and often the complaints do not allow undisturbed sleep. Medications that act on the nervous system often help only unsatisfactorily and can have significant side effects (fatigue, impaired driving ability).

Studies show that acupuncture treatments can relieve discomfort and improve nerve conduction velocities in many PNP patients.

Allergies such as hay fever and food intolerances are affecting more and more people, and this is also true for the so-called autoimmune diseases. In all these cases, an excessive or inappropriate reaction of the immune system is responsible for the discomfort and symptoms of the disease. Acupuncture can often bring about a significant improvement in allergies within a few weeks. In TCM, there are also proven phytotherapeutics (mixtures of medicinal plants) that can alleviate acute symptoms as well as have a preventive effect and regulate the function of the immune system.

Stress disorders, burn-out, sleep disorders

Often these three things can not be separated from each other....who permanently suffers from stress and sleeps badly, sooner or later develops physical complaints or even a mental illness such as burn-out syndrome or depression. First and foremost, the life circumstances that cause illness must be addressed and coping strategies must be learned - but this is where I can effectively support you with TCM. Herbal therapy, acupuncture, heat treatment, massages and meditation techniques such as QiGong can help the body and soul recover more quickly and regain their strength.

Stress disorders, burn-out, sleep disorders
Long-Covid and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there have been proven therapies for 2000 years for the prevention and treatment of acute viral infections, for strengthening the immune system, but also for the treatment of infection sequelae and exhaustion, as they also occur in Post-Covid and Long-Covid as well as CFS. In the context of the Corona epidemic, many of the herbal formulations have been widely applied, tested and adapted to current needs and are thus available for treatment (also in combination with acupuncture, heat applications and nutritional counseling).
